Driving Tips for a Safe Self Drive Road Trip in Uganda
Uganda, The Pearl of Africa is a very beautiful and one of the best African countries to visit on a self drive adventure. Being a welcoming destinations with friendly citizens, Uganda is generally safe for independent and self drive travelers. Below is a complete guide on how to have a safe self drive road trip in Uganda.
Have the vehicle prepared: Confirm that the vehicle has a spare tire and spare kit before you go for a self drive safari. Also check for water and oil levels to see if they are still filled up. Make sure all the car tire nuts are tighten, the car battery is well fixed and all terminals are tight.
Keep on the Left: In Uganda, you should only drive on the left side unless you are overtaking. Only overtake from the right hand side.
Drive cautiously: Take care when driving, some of you Uganda’s roads are full of potholes so you should always have your eyes on the road. Ugandan drivers can times be reckless, avoid following them especially at the traffic lights.
Obey Traffic rules: Always tighten your seat belt. Do not use your phone while driving. respect the road signs.
Follow speed limits: Always follow the speed limits as you are self driving in Uganda. Dont go beyond 80km/hr on high ways, 50km/hr on busy streets and 40km/hr in the National Parks.
